If you are concerned about HIV Support Services in your area then please read this?

You may not be aware but HIV support services across the UK are being decommissioned to reduce the budgets of local authorities, South Yorkshire is no exception. We recently closed our doors in Rotherham and no longer provide services to people living with or affected by HIV in Rotherham. This was a sad day for +me, I believe a combination of the contract being terminated and poor numbers of people accessing drop-in services had a part to play.

Barnsley Commissioning Teams are reviewing our service level agreement which may lead to the decommissioning of services in Barnsley within the next few months.

The way health and social care decisions are made has changed in the past few years. Central government has much less direct involvement in what happens with NHS services in your local area. Our local decision making bodies have asked you to be involved in prioritising the services you want.

It’s local authorities like Barnsley who have an increased role in planning NHS, health and social care services across the borough. Your support is vital to ensure appropriate provision of services in the future is made to support you living HIV. Barnsley Commissioners will be conducting a review of the service on 10th May at our offices in The Core, your support is needed please let us know if you are able to attend.

We can no longer sit in silence and hope things will get better, I ask you to sign our petition, come along to services and attend this meeting before it’s too late.
